Primary Function Responsible for duties associated with scrubbing surgical cases in the operating room. Knows and practices policies and procedures established for Surgical Services and those HealthEast policies which apply. Practices principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions to ensure that the patient remains free from infection. Recognizes and maintains surgical instruments/equipment to ensure proper use and availability during surgical cases. Participates in teaching and orientation. Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions.

Qualifications
Education:
Currently certified or in process of obtaining certification of Surgical Techniciannologist within year of employment. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician program.

Experience:
Prior experience of at least one year. Scrubbing of eye cases preferred though will train

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to bend, reach, and assist to transfer up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and/or walk 90% of scheduled shift. Visual and hearing acuity to perform job related functions. Demonstrated knowledge of skills necessary to provide care in the area of communication, medication preparation, equipment, psychosocial, and growth development for patients in all age groups (neonatal through geriatric).
