Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Evaluation and treatment of clients using physical therapy procedures to derive maximum potential benefit. Plans and implements treatment programs to ensure effective care of patients. Evaluates patient with the appropriate testing procedures to progress patients as ongoing evaluation indicates. Directs aides/assistants as required to assure quality patient care. Completes accurate and timely documentation and record keeping as required. Instructs patient and family and participates in discharge planning. Consults with referring practitioner to ensure quality care and treatments are provided to patients. Involves patient and/or family in goal setting in order to facilitate their active participation in treatment. Remains current on evaluations, treatment techniques, procedures, and other related topics. May supervise physical therapy or physical therapist assistant students. Provides good customer service to patients, staff and visitors.

Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program. Currently licensed by the Minnesota State Board of physical therapy.

Experience:
Prior experience not required. Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to stand and/or walk 90% of 8 hour shift. Ability to bend, reach, and assist with transfers. Be able to lift 50 pounds. Good organizational skills. Good interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, posses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, and interpret the appropriate information, needed to identify the patient's needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
