Clinics - RI (Physicians) - HealthEast Clinics are the East Metro's premier primary care network. The medical staff includes more than 80 physicians as well as numerous certified nurse midwives. Our adult, pediatric and geriatric Nurse Practitioner (CNP/NP)s round out a compassionate and experienced team of nurses and other support staff. Our clinics span the St. Paul area with 11 different sites and focus on providing prompt, personalized patient care with same day access for Acute services. Our network size and diversity allows us to offer a full range of services for patients of all ages, including family practice, pediatrics and Internshipal medicine.

Primary Function Responsible for providing care to patients and residents at designated sites and facilities as assigned. Examines and treats members of family, regardless of age or sex. Ensures proper injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Prescribes and administers medications, performs routine vaccinations, and provides advice regarding personal health and hygiene. Requests necessary tests and follow-up visits and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Ensures clinical excellence at respective sites and facilities through quality patient experience, operational excellence and clinical excellence.
Physically present at designated clinic(s) and/or hospital(s) to see, diagnose, and treat patients per schedule established by the Site Medical Director or designee.
Conducts or arranges for patients patient rounds at hospitals or other care facilities at which Physician's patients have been admitted or are in residence.
Provides on call services in accordance with requirements of the Corporation and in accordance with the schedule established by the Site Medical Director or designee.
Participate in extra service to provide 'coverage' for colleagues during their Continuing Medical Education time or vacations.
Plans and carries out medical care program for children from birth through adolescence to aid in mental and physical growth and development.
Attends and participates in the designated monthly business meeting(s).
Attends and participates in special meetings as called for by the HMRI leadership, the site 'clinic' manager, or the Site Medical Director.
Attends all HMRI membership meetings.
Participates in orientation program designed to provide information regarding coding, billing, and documentation procedures used by the corporation, including compliance with all appropriate laws, rules, and regulations regarding Medicare, Medicaid, and any other third party payer, as well as attending any required ongoing training regarding such policies and procedures.
Attends Continuing Medical Education (CME) meetings to provide credit hours adequate to maintain state license and specialty society membership. All Continuing Medical Education meetings or conferences for which HealthEast (HMRI) will have a financial obligation must be approved by the Site Medical Director (content) and the site Clinic Manager (time absent from work to insure adequate number of providers).
Meets regularly with Clinic Manager to establish clinic goals, address clinic issues, and formulate and implement strategies on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Maintains status as a provider under and complying with the rules and regulations of the Medicare and Medicare programs, workers' compensation, managed care and direct contracting arrangements, and any other programs the corporation participates.
Participates fully in any managed care contracts or similar agreements entered into by the corporation.
Provides timely, accurate, and complete documentation of medical services in the medical record, both in clinic and in the hospital.
Appropriately codes and provides timely completion of all charge tickets representing the professional services rendered to patients, the appropriate level of documentation of such services noted in the patient's medical record to support such coding, and physician's full compliance with all approved policies and procedures related to such processes.
Continually examines opportunities for standardization and/or consolidation within Clinic and HealthEast.
Understands and supports technology needs of clinic in association with corporate information technology department. Complies with standards and requirements of all accrediting, licensing and governmental agencies pertaining to the area of operational responsibility.
Identifies and recommends changes that will improve service, productivity, quality and/or financial performance.
Responsible for planning using appropriate planning and decision making tools.
Supports overall clinic initiatives.
Provide management for department that ensures proper utilization of human resources.
Provides fiscal management for dept/service/team to ensure proper utilization of financial resources
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Valid MD or DO License in the State of Minnesota. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
Experience:
Demonstrated competence in practicing medicine. Minimum of three years practicing medicine preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated clinical expertise;
Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills;
Current clinical skills regarding management of medical care and use of equipment;
BLS and ACLS;
Excellent interpersonal skills to work successfully with all disciplines including medical and support staff;
Clear understanding of Care Management and Performance Improvement approaches to clinical practice;
Knowledge of local healthcare market;
Previous experience with developing and maintaining effective medical staff relationships;
Effective liaison with HealthEast Medical Staff;
Extensive PC knowledge and skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to work independently;
Ability to travel to multiple work sites/facilities;
Knowledge of coding/reimbursement issues;
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to gather data reflective of the patient's status, identify patient needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures and this job description.;
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for an extended period of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hand(s) or arm(s). Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal range. Ability to stoop, bend, push or lift 50 pounds.
